Teena Gannette

Teena lives on the wrong side of town in a run down trailer with her mother, Susan Braccio-Gannette and her mother's common law husband, Donnie Gannette. Donnie is not her real father, at least that's what it says on her birth certificate. Her real father was killed in a mugging in town, but they never found the killer. Shortly after he was killed, Susan moved in with Donnie and Teena was born. Her mother and mother's boyfriend decided marriage was too much of a hassle and did not want to follow the norms of society with a piece of paper. When they put Teena in school, it was decided they would adopt the Gannette name just so she would feel some security around other kids at school that had two parent homes or at least legally guided boundaries in divorce settlements or the straightforward single parents.

Although her parents run a bar and deal drugs while drinking heavily and taking drugs themselves, Teena has had to become the responsible one in the family from an early age and has always taken care of herself and her parents when they were not well. Despite the horrible conditions of where she lives, she managed to become an honor student at Kensington High School, even though most of the kids make fun of her as trailer trash and the fact that her parents are considered town scum and won't even marry each other legally.

Teena knew her parents behaviour was bad and wished they would stop, but loved them just the same.
