Bubble Wrapped

by Callen Damornen

Bubble wrapped existence
Protected from the world
It was my choice
I had no voice
Could not protect
Myself from harm
Locked away from
All that could hurt
Not knowing how
To trust, to open
Looking on the outside
Feeling trapped within
No outlet to escape
Not a hand to reach out
Not a place to run
Bouncing off the walls
Of my self imposed cell
Soft and snuggly inside
Slowly suffocating
No room for growth
The outside is scary
Not knowing who to trust
It can't be all that bad
Or is it worse inside?
The plastic bubble
So soft and flexible
They don't let you breathe
They don't let you live.
On the outside you breathe
On the outside you live.
