What Is A Friend

by Callen Damornen

I cannot stand the yes-men
The ones who kiss your butt
Who tell you lies to impress.
I cannot bear with takers
The ones who use and abuse
And get what's in it for them.
I cannot suffer with givers
The ones who give and give
But refuse your gift in turn.
A friend I will suffer gladly
Tell me the truth and
Keep me right when needed.
With you my friend
We can face any challenge
And laugh at the banal.
We can overcome our toughest challenge
We can share each other's pain
We can just be there for the good and bad.
My friend is a mirror of my soul
I see my heart in you
For all it's worth, you and I are one.
